SCULPTING WITH MS
I have many times marveled at his ability to carve intricate and often quite delicate stone pieces that many artists with tremendous experience and no disabilities couldn’t even dream of accomplishing.
– Robert J. McHugh, Sculptor
In the last few years of his life, Brian maintained full range of motion in his right hand. His left hand, which had less mobility, helped him maintain ballast as he worked.
For studio work, Brian designed a harness, using a weight belt for stability, that enabled him to put in long hours without having to depend on his legs to support him.
Before he had the harness, the only way for Brian to physically maintain an upright position was to lean against the table or a wall.
